TRAFFIC ALERT - Removal of Overhead Signs Will Require Nighttime Closure of Route 1 near Christiana Mall

Christiana -- As part of the I-95 Interchange Christiana Mall Road Bridge project, the Department of Transportation (DelDOT) advises motorists that Route 1 between the Christiana Mall and I-95 will have nighttime closures for the removal of overhead guide signs.

The work will impact these locations:

Tuesday, March 15 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Routes 1 southbound will be CLOSED

 Detour for Route 1 southbound:

 Traffic will be detoured to I-95 southbound via Exit 165A at the ramp south of Churchmans Road. From I-95 southbound traffic will be sent to Route 273 eastbound via Exit 3. Traffic will follow Route 273 eastbound to Route 1. Traffic will then be diverted back to Route 1 southbound to the end of the detour.

Wednesday, March 16 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Routes 1 northbound will be CLOSED

Detour for Route 1 northbound:

Traffic will be detoured to exit onto Route 273 westbound via Exit 162. Traffic will follow along Route 273 westbound and exit onto I-95 northbound. After traveling along I-95 northbound, traffic will be diverted onto Route 1 northbound via Exit 4A to end of detour.

Police officers will be on site to direct and assist motorists.
